BIO

Emily Bishop is a violinist with a deep appreciation for both classical and contemporary music. Her career spans performances with symphonies, chamber ensembles, ballets, and operas, as well as electric violin sets at large-scale events, weddings, and concerts. She enjoys exploring the intersections of different musical styles, blending technical precision with expressive, intuitive playing.

Classically trained from a young age, Emily won prizes in competitions such as the Marjorie Easley Concerto Competition and the Oklahoma Community Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition. She studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy as an Endowed Scholar before earning her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Washington and the University of Oklahoma. Over the years, she has performed with orchestras across the country and collaborated with contemporary composers on new music projects.

Her interest in electric violin began in college while playing in the University of Washington’s Modern Jazz Ensemble, and since then, she has incorporated improvisation and fusion elements into her performances. Her multicultural background informs her approach, from performing Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto—a piece she won multiple competitions with—to studying Indian classical violin.

In addition to performing, Emily teaches and mentors young musicians, including working with children from foster backgrounds through the KING program in the Austin, TX area. Whether on stage or in the studio, she values connection through music, always aiming to bring sincerity and depth to her playing.
